The book discusses the structure and nomenclature of elite social groups in mass societies of the XX century. The examples of countries of various types show the number, growth dynamics, structure and composition of mass elite groups. The issues of stratification of these groups, vertical social mobility and the composition of massive elite groups for social origin, circumstances, which led to segregation of higher groups of mental labor from the lower and bringing the latter to groups of individuals of physical labor are addressed. The number of the highest elite in various countries, its educational level and the role in its completion of the most prestigious educational institutions, the degree of reproduction of different groups of the highest elite (economic, political, administrative and military, intellectual and cultural) from the environment of mass elite groups were also considered
