The proposed textbook presents a wide picture of geopolitical, socio-economic and cultural-historical processes in the post-Soviet space. In the first section, readers" attention is concentrated on geopolitical history, modern trends and trends in the countries that arose in the space of the USSR. Subsequent sections are the complex characteristics of new states that make up the modern geopolitical and socio-economic environment of Russia. They include the natural-historical and sociocultural prerequisites for the formation of modern statehood, the natural-resource potential of the development of the national economy and living of the population, demogeographic and ethno-social processes, the state of the economy, the features of culture, national cuisine and other aspects of self-identification. The exclusive part of the country characteristics are detailed descriptions of the internal differences that allow you to assess the degree of integrity and national-political unity, to distinguish nuclear, subpertory and peripheral territories, to conduct an independent comparative analysis of various parts of the country. The characteristics of states are necessarily ending with a subdivolus of “problems and development prospects”, which give material for their own forecasts of future countries of the post -Soviet space. A red thread through the entire textbook is an assessment of relations with Russia: the degree of integration, similar or diverging development trends, problems and prospects of relationships.
