People have always experienced interest in investigating crimes and punishing criminals. What is more here: curiosity, thirst for justice, subconscious (and sometimes conscious!) Interest in evil - it is difficult to say. In any case, the search for the ideal way to determine the guilt-innovice and proportionate punishment has been going on for thousands of years.
Among the characters of the book as famous people - Socrates, Jordano Bruno, Abraham Lincoln, Leo Tolstoy, and ordinary mortals - Russian peasants, English sailors, Italian immigrants. One thing is invariably: the courtroom, strict judges, trembling defendants.
We will try to trace some of the wrists of this extremely difficult path:
- Let"s think about the shortcomings of the most democratic in the world of the Athenian court,
- we will evaluate the ambiguity of the introduction of the inquisition process,
- Critically consider the political persecution of the early new time,
- marvel at some judicial curioses,
- we sympathize with some accused, who became victims of obvious injustice
