The training manual analyzes patterns in the evolution of the media sector of world culture in terms of a comprehensive consideration of modern media. New phenomena in the system (module) of global mass media are characterized, the achievements of foreign experience with Russian reality are correlated. The patterns of the evolution of many media phenomena and facts, which at first glance, representing a random kaleidoscope, but in fact are an expression of a characteristic of world mass media, are outlined. An important role in the study is played by the political economic method, which made it possible to reliefly characterize the main trends in the development of the modern media system: monopolization, financialization and tightening of media management.
