The book presents the results of a number of national studies of the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, carried out in cooperation with the representative office of the Fund. F. Ebert (Germany) in the Russian Federation in 200-2017. On their basis, a comparative analysis of the lifestyle of Russians living in the two largest Russian megacities (Moscow and St. Petersburg) and other regions of the country was carried out. Features of the level and quality of life of their inhabitants, the specifics of their employment and behavior in the Internet space, a place in their lives and children, the dynamics of various models of leisure behavior, as well as a change in traditional tender roles in different types of settlements and the features of migration behavior of their inhabitants are shown. Of particular interest are the data on the dynamics of perception of their lives by residents of capitals and various types of settlements, on the vector of changes in their worldview and value orientations, as well as their assessments of the situation in the country as a whole and in the regions of residence
