This collection included two treatises of Cicero dedicated to rhetoric - “On the Orator” and “Orator”. In the philosophy of Cicero, close to the Stoic, the very idea of oratory is inextricably linked with the personal and civil qualities of the ideal speaker - a “true Roman”, courageous and adamant in the face of danger and above all the republican virtues. As for the form of these works, contemporaries already recognized its impeccable perfection, and in subsequent times Cicero was considered (and is still considered) the best stylist of ancient Roman literature
