A brief overview of the history of writing. Materials for linguistics courses

In this book, written by a specialist in a comparative-historical Indo-European linguistics, the doctor of philological sciences V.A. Kochergina, the issues of the history of the letter are studied. A circle of issues related to the origin of the letter, the emergence of various methods of writing, their development in connection with the phonetic-grammatical structure of the sound language, in connection with the influence of the writing of one people on the writing of other peoples, is considered.
