To determine the form of armed struggle in the enemy's rear, M.A. Drobov chose the term 'small war', which appeared in the 18th century. M.A. Drobov attributed guerrilla warfare and sabotage as the main forms of small war. In addition, the author further divided the first form of struggle into two forms: guerrilla warfare-rebellion and guerrilla warfare of a military type, with the former serving as the basis for the latter. The author meticulously collected scattered information from various sources in Russian and foreign languages, both literary and archival. In total, over 370 works were used.
