The publication includes a fundamental essay of the outstanding Czech historian-Slavist Pavel Josef Schafarik (1795-1861) Slavic antiquities, which laid the foundation for the further development of Slavodiology and had a huge impact on the development of this area of knowledge, including in Russia. Using the richest material of the ancient and medieval (Western and Eastern) sources, Shafirik carefully examines the environment in which Slavs lived, their life, beliefs, leads a huge number of information on historical geography, the ethnic composition of the tribes that inhabited in those distant times eastern Europe.
