The autobiographical story of Vadim Sergeyevich Shefner (1915-2002) "Sister of Sorrow" continues the "military" series "Samokat". The name of the series - "How it was" - explains the publishing plan: to tell about the Great Patriotic War honestly and objectively - as far as possible. Honesty is guaranteed by the names of the authors: these are Russian-frants, eyewitnesses of the described, people with impeccable personal and creative reputation. Objectivity, we hope, will ensure the "scientific apparatus": in each book of the series, the art work is supplemented by an article by the historian, setting out today"s view of the described events.
The story "Sister of Sorrow" - about Leningraders, whose youth fell on the beginning of the 1940s. The heroes of the book - girls and boys, friends and girlfriends - some from the student bench will go to the front, others will fall on the fraction of bombing, hunger and cold of the blockade.
For secondary and senior school age
