In the fall of 1935, Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov, the correspondents of the newspaper Pravda and the authors of the books 12 chairs and Golden calf went to America. For three and a half months they managed to cross the whole country from the end twice. The result of this trip and became the cycle of essays One-story America - the last work of co-authors, published by a separate publication in 1937. Apparently, they were waiting for an evil satire to the society of capitalism, and it turned out a kind and clever book, telling about the life and life of Americans, about meetings with the most different people, full of interesting stories and observations
