Under the pseudonym "O. Zabyty" was published Grigory Ivanovich Nedetovsky (1846–1922), one of the most underrated Russian writers of the 19th century. Being the son of a priest, he skillfully and colorfully described the life and customs of the spiritual class of that time. The works of O. Zabyty were not published during the Soviet period, and this book — the author's first edition in several decades — is intended to introduce readers to the works of this bright and original writer. In this book, there are cheerful and sad, comic and tragic, but very good-natured stories from the life of the Orthodox clergy of pre-revolutionary Russia.
