From the author
I still remember my first embroidery work prepared for the art lesson in high school. She was on an astronomical theme - half of the sun and half of the moon. I worked on her on the bus on the way to school and back. Bending over embroidery, squeezing huge hoop in one hand and a plastic needle with acrylic yarn in the other, I felt lost in a special world. I was delighted with how the stitches were combined, creating a tangible texture from a simple sketch made by hand on a piece of white matter. It was magical! It seems that my work that year received some kind of award at the school art show, but most of all I remembered the bus trips, during which I worked out new techniques. It was in these precious minutes that I gradually fell in love with embroidery.

Since then my love has become only stronger. I honed skill in constant practice and experiments. I also tried to engage in other types of needlework, including sewing, knitting and work with felt, but always returned to embroidery. Even in the most difficult days, I look forward to a calm evening, when I can comfortably get on the couch with a needle and a thread. Embroidery is my creative outlet, my therapy and a source of infinite joy.

In modern embroidery, I most like freedom. No need to master many techniques to create something beautiful. Knowing a few simple stitches, having basic materials and several minutes a day, you can embroider almost anything. I like to use funny patterns and bright color palettes to breathe life into the simplest drawings. Modern embroidery can be simultaneously beautiful and functional, so I strive to create products that can be useful in everyday life.

It doesn’t matter if you are a newcomer in the world of embroidery or an experienced craftswoman, I hope this book will inspire you to take up the needle!
