Pavel Petrovich Bazhov (1879-1950) was born in the Urals in the factory settlement of Sysert, in a family of a mining master. He spent his childhood among miners and craftsmen who extracted and processed malachite and mica. After graduating from a seminary, he taught Russian language in Yekaterinburg, traveled extensively across the Urals, collecting folk tales, legends, and fairy tales. It was on this material that the famous Bazhov's tales were created, works in which truth and fiction are inseparably intertwined.
"The Silver Hoof" is one of the most famous tales, telling the story of the friendship between a little girl named Daryonka, her cat Muryonka, and a magical creature with a special gift for revealing natural treasures.
