Isaac Bashevis Zinger is one of the rare writers, most of the works of which exist in two versions at once: in the original and translated, which sometimes noticeably differs from the original text. In 1974, Zinger’s novel “Expedition of the Soul” was published in Yiddish. Four years later, the English version of the novel with a simple and memorable name "Shosh" came out.
