The book explores the problems of memory in modernism literature on the material of theoretical and autobiographical works of Walter Benjamin and Osip Mandelstam. The author considers the transfer of attention to these writers with the fact that he is remembered for the weaving of memories, with all its discrepancies and problems. At the same time, he refers to the category of the Kantovsky sublime, which helps him to comprehend such a close interest of two classics of modernism to the shocks and gaping, which memory, in the expression of Benjamin, is owned by its indelible images. In the center of the study - the philosophical background characteristic of the modernist poetics of refusal from the reconstruction of the past as a continuous flow of life. As an application, the book includes the author"s translation analyzed in the Monograph of the "Berlin Chronicles" Walter Benjamin.
