In the monograph, basic paradigms are analyzed that determine the appearance of linguistics in the second half of the XX - early XXI century (insulating, anthropocentric, sociocultural), as well as their philosophical and psychological grounds. The capabilities discovered by the sociocultural paradigm are illustrated by the study of the sociocultural history of the metaphor of the mechanism, cognitive and cultural and historical bases of metonimia, the content of the concept "crisis of culture". An important outcome of the book becomes a sociocultural theory of lexical complexes and made at its framework the description of the open complexes, the intelligentsia ".
