It all started with. The year 2049, Washington, D.C. Paul Thurman, a senator, invites a young congressman Donald Kini, an architect by education, to participate in a special project under the provisional name CLU (Localization and Utilization Complex). The essence of the project is to create an underground storage facility for nuclear and toxic waste, and Donald is tasked with designing a bunker-shelter for the facility's maintenance staff. Year 2052, Fulton County, Georgia. The project is completed. And as if culminating in its completion, America is hit by a series of nuclear strikes. Thurman, Donald, and other selected representatives of American society move to the prepared shelter. It is here that Kini discovers the harsh and terrifying truth: CLU was just a cover for the global operation 'Fifty', the goal of which is to preserve a part of humanity in case of a nuclear catastrophe. And the number 50 signifies the number of shelters built, managed from the command center of shelter number 1. How did all this continue? The year 2212 and beyond, up to 2345 inclusive. Shelters, one after another, break free from the main control. Rebellion follows rebellion, and each is brutally suppressed by the remote activation of poisonous gas. How will all this end? Unknown. In May 2023, the premiere of the first season of the TV series 'Shelter' took place, based on the novel by Howie (directed by Adam Bernstein and Morten Tyldum, written by Graham Yost). The series was very popular, received high ratings, and has already been renewed for second and third seasons.
