This monograph is the result of a long -term study of the interaction of ancient Egyptian civilization with the surrounding regions and their population in the era of the ancient and middle kingdoms. The work is based on the study of the process of formation and development of ancient Egyptian expeditions behind materials on mines and in the quarry outside the Nile Valley, their socio-economic, cultural and political significance for the ancient Egyptian society of the construction of royal pyramids. At the same time, the studied enterprises are considered in close connection with a wider process of penetration of the Egyptians outside the Nile Valley, in which the expeditions behind the materials were only one of the important tools for the interaction of the Egyptian state with the surrounding areas. The work is based on the study of numerous written sources, most of these texts have been translated into Russian for the first time
