The book of selected works by Alexander Ardalionovich Shishkov (1799-1832), a poet, prose writer, playwright, and translator of the first third of the 19th century, a contemporary and friend of Alexander Pushkin's youth, includes lyrical poems, poems, and epistolary prose. The majority of the included works of the romantic author, preserved through the efforts of Alexander Pushkin, Sergey Aksakov, Mikhail Pogodin, Nikolai Nadezhdin, have not been reissued since 1834.
