In this story with an exciting plot for the first time in Russian artistic prose, the topic of modern African piracy is rising. It turns out that today, as the centuries ago, the robberies of ships are flourishing for the purpose of profit.
Ship-cargo ship under the Liberian flag, but with a Russian team, envelopes the Arabian Peninsula, heading east. The owner of the vessel hurries the captain, and he did not wait for the formation of a new caravan, accompanied by a warship in order to protect against pirates. As a result, this ship is shortly captured. The action takes place on the vessel itself (in the environment of the captive team and protecting her pirates), and in one international representation in the territory of the African country, where the endless struggle for power is coming, and on warships that patrol the dangerous water. Freedom ultimately comes to sailors, but they have to pay physical and moral deprivation for it. And all due to the fact that the shipowner pulled the ransom for a long time, and the captain did not risk and did not decide on the power liberation of the vessel, which some of the team was inclined. The basis of the story does not lie a concrete case of the seizure of the vessel, this is a kind of generalization of what has already happened with other ships off the coast of East Africa.
