In the new work by A. A. Zdanovich, the question of the activities of special departments of the NKVD, and later the SMERSH organs and the period of preparation and conduct of the Battle of Kursk, is thoroughly explored. Based on archival documents, many of which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, the author examines all aspects of the counterintelligence activities, which managed to achieve significant success in providing counterintelligence support to the Red Army troops. Through active measures at the front and the organization of operational search, they managed to significantly neutralize the attempts of German intelligence, counterintelligence, and police agencies to establish a mass agent network in our rear and directly in the troops. By using radio games with enemy intelligence agencies, misinformation was successfully transmitted to the enemy's headquarters, making it difficult for them to timely uncover the intentions and specific plans of the General Headquarters, military councils of armies, and fronts.
