The name of Vasily Yanovsky (1906-1989), one of the most controversial writers of Russian abroad, is familiar to Russian readers mainly thanks to its colorful, daring memoirs from the life of Russian Paris of the thirties, “The Champs Elysees. Book of memory ”, as well as not so long ago published novels of the post -war period“ Portable Immortality ”and“ On the other side of time ”. Meanwhile, the literary heritage of this author is very diverse and is still unknown in full. This collection includes Yanovsky"s early works, most of which were first printed by negligible prints in Russian -speaking publishers or in the emigrant periodicals of pre -war Paris and have not been reprinted since then. These early stories and stories not only clarify the origins and dialectics of the writer’s work, but also significantly complement our ideas about the literary contribution of the “younger” generation of the first wave of emigration, which is often called “unnoticed generation” or “Russian monparnas”. In addition to art works, the book includes the memories of Yanovsky about the Anglo-American poet uh. Odene and writer, journalist and famous figure of the Russian diaspora Elena Izvolskaya, as well as his essay, interviews and reviews.
