The book of the largest anthropologist of the present Claude Levi-Strass (1908-2009) included sixteen articles written in the last decade of the past century and the essay "Execution of Santa Claus" (1952) The author created all these works, starting from any current event, but whatever he wrote about - about the epidemic of cow rabies, about various forms of cannibalism or about prejudices associated with ritual practices - he always remembers the words of Montaeny, which have become prophetic: "Everyone calls barbarism that he is unusual," and calls us not to forget about them when evaluating the events occurring before our eyes. Translated from a dozen languages, this collection marks the beginning of the 21st century
