The monograph conducted a study of the main indicators of the information society. The study is based on the data of the International Electric Union. Rosstat, statistical collections of the NIU "Higher School of Economics" on the development of the information society. The work discusses theoretical issues of formation, as well as methodological principles for the formation of a system of indicators of the information society. The main acceptance is made on a comparative analysis of key indicators of the information society in the context of countries and determining the place of Russia in world ratings. This study will allow assessing the state and development of the information society in the world, to identify the main problems of the development of processes affecting the effectiveness of the sector, to determine the level of state and regulatory environment, in particular, the presence of healthy competition, innovative potential, necessary infrastructure, the possibility of financing new projects . The result of the study is the proposed and tested statistical tools of the opening state and development of the information society in Russia and the world
