The textbook is a systemic presentation of the main provisions and principles of the theory of value assessment of machines and equipment, which has not yet been finally formed. The features of machines as objects of evaluation are revealed. The appraisal models under consideration are linked with international evaluation standards and use the modern results of scientific disciplines such as applied statistics, the study of operations, the theory of optimal management, the theory of reliability. It is shown that in some cases, factors of uncertainty and risk should be taken into account when evaluating the machines not like when evaluating financial instruments and businesses. Much attention was paid to the logical severity of evaluative reasoning, assumptions about the specification of the dependence of the cost of machines on their characteristics, and a critical consideration of incorrect assessment methods.
