The second half of the XVIII century. In the history of Russian political thought, it was marked by the emergence of large state projects connecting the benefits of individual political unions, diplomatic and military actions with the natural geographical regulations of Russia, its borders, ethno-cultural neighborhoods and constant interests. These projects belonged to the pen of the closest associate of Empress Catherine II Prince Grigory Potemkin.
In his notes "On the Crimea", "On Poland", "On Sweden", as well as in projects dedicated to the North Caucasus, Transcaucasia and Persia, ideas are concentrated that have become the second half of the Catherine’s foreign policy and ultimately and ultimately laid the foundations for the entire further geopolitics of the Russian Empire
