The monograph discusses the problems of sustainable development and energy efficiency using the scientific and methodological approach proposed by the authors on the development of regional fuel and energy programs on the basis of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, the Sverdlovsk region, the oil and gas production enterprise of Yuganskneftegaz OJSC, and the results of the environmental and economic evaluation are presented. Given the unique experience of the region’s participation in various sustainable development projects, energy -efficient and low -carbon economy, the creation of the waste market and emissions of greenhouse gas based on the trading exchange of the Sverdlovsk region as a pilot site for the implementation of the green economy was proposed. The history of the term "green economy", the essence of this concept, is considered, the results of the application of the green economy in different countries are shown. The international experience of green solutions and technologies has been analyzed, psychological aspects of the transition to the green economy have been studied.
