Russian demonology

Victor Kalashnikov wondered: where are the legends about the oldest Russian gods and the spirits of nature? And he found the answer: they are in fairy tales, which we sometimes treat frivolously, considering them fun for young children. It is only necessary to cut off all the superfluous, remove the centuries -old layers, separate what existed in the distant era, from the subsequent influence of Christianity and secular culture. The author took up this, and as a result, a book was born, the heroes of which - house and goblin, water and banks, kikimora, mavka, pharaohs, fields, half -days and other evil spirits are not just folklore characters and objects of folk beliefs. They suddenly become guides in time immemorial and talk about how our ancestors who existed in close unity with nature arranged home life, raised children, saved from diseases and - most importantly - how they perceived the world around them
