In the monograph on extensive domestic and foreign material, the process of forming the information and communication technology industry (ICT) in the USSR/Russia, the USA, as well as in other regions of the planet is presented. Particular attention was paid to the conquest of the ICT industry in the central place in the political and economic architecture of the modern world, its special role in ensuring international security, solving the problems of economic and social development. Promising ways of development of the domestic ICT industry are indicated, including the use of unique advantages of Russian companies in the context of the liberal economy and the almost complete lack of barriers to exchange knowledge and technologies in the world economy.
