The material set forth in the book will be useful in the preparation of specialists in various fields of the nuclear industry. Chapter I is devoted to the consideration of the concepts of “radio chemistry” and “nuclear chemistry”. Chapter II considers the structure of nuclear matter (protons, neutrons and atomic nuclei), the properties of atomic nuclei, as well as theoretical ideas about the structure of the nucleus. Chapters III - VI are devoted to theoretical and applied aspects of the phenomenon of isotopia. In particular, information about the types of isotopic effects, isotopic metabolism and methods of separation of isotopes are described in detail, industrial methods of enriching uranium are considered. Chapter VII is devoted to nuclear reactions that occur in natural conditions (in the atmosphere, lithosphere, on stars) and carried out artificially with the help of accelerators. Basic information about nuclear reactions, including classification methods, mechanisms, thermal effect, energy threshold, cross section, excitation function, are presented. Chapter VIII considers the problem of stability of nuclei and the question of the boundaries of the periodic system of elements. A description of the methods of synthesis, isolation and identification of transuranic, tracuria and super -heavy elements is given. A book is intended for students studying in the areas of training and specialties included in the UGS “Chemistry”, “Chemical Technologies” and other areas where the course of nuclear chemistry or radio chemistry is provided.
