This book is devoted to the life and scientific activity of an outstanding scientist, the “father of Russian aviation” by N.E. Zhukovsky. The main attention is paid to the main in the scientific and technical work of the scientist-hydrodynamics and theory of airplane flight theory. His pedagogical activity at the Moscow State University and MVTU is illuminated, the most important achievements of the students of N.E. Zhukovsky are shown.
