The key properties of logarithms, replacing the multiplication of the addition in a huge range of values, contributed to their wide popularity in normative and scientific and technical practice to represent the relative attitude of two quantities and their comparison in a wide range. These relative-nomi-alios are called decibels (dB), blacks (NP), flashes, etc.
The Logarithmic line is clearly illustrated by the remarkable property of logarithms-a veteran and honored figure of computer technology, when a simple displacement of the engine can be obtained, private, square /cube, number root or angle sinus. It was the logarithmic line of engineers that created spacecraft and nuclear reactors, unique bridges, towers, architectural monuments, which, in turn, also serve as a monument to the applied art of engineers armed with a logarithmic ruler.
In modern computing computerized practices, logarithmic metrics are universally used to present the results of data processing in the tabular and graphic form, in particular:
to characterize the weakening /attenuation of signals in telecommunication lines of communication (pro-water, fiber-optical, radio-relay, etc),
when constructing diagrams of the levels of internal circuits of equipment and lines,
to represent the levels of audibility and volume in acoustics,
for the analysis of amplitude-frequency and phase characteristics of individual links in electrical circuits and their cascading inclusions in the form of Bode charts. An example is the diagram of the body of electrical filters and elements of automatic control systems,
for noise identification.
This book introduces the reader in detail using a logarithmic measure to evaluate signal levels in power and other areas of technology, methods of calculating and measuring levels. The presentation is accompanied by numerous examples.
The book is designed for a wide range of readers interested in technical issues. It will be useful to engineers engaged in the development and operation of telecommunications and other equipment, and can also be used in practical and laboratory classes for students of technical universities
