Invisible universe. Dark secrets of space

Behind the powerful visible universe, which envelops us at night, is hiding something else and much more impressive. Most astronomers today believe that ninety -five percent of the contents of the universe is invisible.
Everything that we observe in everyday life and in beautiful pictures from the Hubble telescope is probably only five percent of what is hidden in space. The rest is dark matter and energy-that part of reality that we have just begun to understand. So what are these dark invisible substances? And how can we be so confident in their existence?
This book takes us on a trip to the universe, outside the solar system and our native Milky Way. And we will plunge into the microscopic quantum world, closer to get acquainted with force, light, a physical component of invisibility, exploding giant stars, encountering galactic lumps, supersensitive detectors in deep mines, ingenious scientists and “spherical bastards”.
