In the book of the outstanding German physicist Max Planck (1858–1947), much attention is paid to the systematic presentation and development of the main provisions of theoretical optics, their connections with other departments of physics are presented. In the first two parts of the work, the author considers matter as a continuous environment with continuously changing properties. In the third part, when describing the dispersion, an atomic consideration method is introduced. The author also outlines a natural transition to quantum mechanics based on classical theory using the corresponding generalization.
