The development of a new institutional economic theory at the end of the 20th century led to a deep change in our ideas about the organization of economic systems, as well as their social and political foundations. The book “Impernated Institutes” explores the latest achievements in this field of knowledge and promotes the discussion forward on the basis of prerequisites about incomplete knowledge about social systems and their unexpected dynamics, while the main attention is paid to institutional policy. Empiric examples are used to confirm theoretical argument - from Africa to Iceland. In “imperfect institutions”, Trauinn Eggertson continues its work on the integration and development of scientific achievements of new institutional economic theory, which began widely recognized the book “Economic behavior and institutions” (1990), which was translated into six languages, including Russian. In the presented book, Eggertson analyzes the reasons for which institutions that create relative economic backwardness arise and continue to exist, and also considers the possibilities and boundaries of institutional reforms
