The word parasite does not cause positive emotions. Parasites are called those who live at someone else"s expense - whether we are talking about people or pathogenic organisms. Nevertheless, the very existence of parasites excites our imagination: we are striking in their ability to adapt to changing external conditions, their complex life cycle, their “modus operandi”, which has no analogues in the animal world.
This book in the most accessible language, using many examples, tells about what science parasitology does. The author introduces the reader with a huge variety of parasitic species, tells what principles their survival strategy is built, what consequences for the host’s body the “cohabitation” turns with them, how their reproduction occurs and even ... What are the advantages of the one whom the parasite chosen and uses in in as a feed base.
We should be grateful to the parasites: they took a direct part in the evolution of man and made an invaluable contribution to the formation of our species, says Pierre Kerner
