Can we unconditionally trust our feelings and what we see? Since Homo sapiens appeared on Earth, natural selection preferred a distorted perception of reality to maintain life and reproduction. How can it be possible that the world that we see is not an objective reality?
We see a rushing car, but we do not cross the road in front of it, we see mold on bread, but do not eat it. According to the author, all these impressions are not an objective reality. The consequences of such perception are enormous: fashion designers sew more pleasant silhouettes to perception, and certain colors are used in advertising campaigns to capture our attention. Only by distorting reality, we can easily and safely move around the world.

He is a professor at the Department of Cognitive Sciences of the University of California, combining work at the departments of philosophy and logic. His research in the field of perception, evolution and consciousness received the Troland Award of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States
