In the book of Torstin Veblen "Engineers and the price system" (1921), his view of the situation that has developed during the period of industrial upsurge is shown. The world in this era quickly changed, the people who lived in it changed. The new picture of the world was created by revolutions, a crisis and the development of technology. Webblen"s approach was relevant for his time, but in forecasts the economist relied only on the prospects of industry, practically without considering the information revolution. A special place in the book is given to Soviet Russia, its role in the future of civilized humanity. In general, Veblen was one of the first to try to state the concept of building a technocratic state.
