Concrete Mathematics. Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science

This book is based on the course of the lectures of Stanford University. The name "specific mathematics" comes from the words "continual" and "discrete" mathematics. The purpose of this book is to provide the reader with the technique of operating with discrete objects, which is absolutely necessary for mathematicians working in the field of computer science. The book is primarily focused on practitioners (although theorists will find a lot of useful things in it), and is replete with a lot of specific examples and exercises. The concreteness of the presentation of abstract material is another explanation of the name of the book. The breadth of the coverage of such different topics in one book could arouse suspicions of some lightweight, if not for the names of its authors - famous American mathematicians. Nevertheless, the word "light" to the book is quite applicable, since the presentation style is quite far from dry academism. As the authors themselves admit, they consider mathematics entertainment, and they did everything so that the readers of the book received from reading it
