Richard Brinsley Sheridan's brilliant satirical comedy of manners needs no evaluation. It is good old English classic that has not lost its relevance to this day. 'The School for Scandal' has been translated by many talented writers: I. M. Muravyov-Apostol, A. I. Pisarev, M. Lozinsky, and others. The publishing house offers a new translation made by Alexander Livergant, a Russian writer and translator. Livergant is the author of more than ten books, mostly about English writers of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as numerous translations. He has translated from English 'The Diaries' of S. Pepys, 'Letters' of J. Swift, 'Letters' of L. Sterne, novels by Evelyn Waugh, Jane Austen, and others.
