"Scenes of the private and social life of animals" (1842) is a famous collection for which famous French writers wrote the texts, and the remarkable draftsman Granville performed the illustrations. The through plot of the book is a story about how the animals gathered for their general assembly and decided to free themselves from the power of a person, and for this - to tell each of their own history. The reader is waiting for the monologues of the Hare-Conformer and Bear Bear, the Crocodile-Epicurean and Poodle, who did the theater critic, the English cat convicted of marital treason, and the French cat, deceived by a change cat. The names and some signs of the characters are animal, and the problems, of course, are human, those who faced the French of the first half of the 19th century in their everyday life. This produces a comic effect that Granville"s brilliant drawings complete. The translation of the collection was made by the famous Russian researcher of French culture - Vera Milchina, the author of the book Paris in 1814-1848: everyday life. "
