This monograph presents modern information about the functions of mixed saliva, the roles of its proteins and peptides in maintaining the homeostasis of the oral cavity. Particular attention is paid to the specifics of the study of mixed saliva, the original techniques for determining various indicators, including the protein spectrum, are given. The methods of collecting, storing and preparing samples of saliva to the study are discussed.
