The book is devoted to A.D. Sakharov, his political, social and scientific activities and the role of his ideas in the present and future. The first part of the book covers the period until 1981. It was the work of samizdat, compiled by friends and like-minded people of Sakharov to his 60th anniversary of protest against the reference of the famous scientist. In the same years, the collection came out in six languages: Russian (in New York), German, French, Italian and Swedish. The second part of the book includes articles telling about the struggle of Sakharov for the democratization of the Soviet society during the years of restructuring. The third part discusses the influence of Sakharov"s ideas today and tomorrow. The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of the democratization of Russia, the fate and the ideas of Andrei Dmitrievich Sakharov.
