The collection publishes folklore texts about the sorcerers and representatives of rural residents who enjoy magical knowledge (shepherds, carpenters, hunters, obstacles, etc), as well as mentally magical texts. All of them are recorded during the long-term work of the folklore expedition of the Russian State Humanitarian University (Moscow) in various areas of the Arkhangelsk region.
The records presented in the book reflect the live tradition of magical practices and believes the inhabitants of the Russian North. Texts are commented and equipped with an extensive reference apparatus.
