This edition presents modern information about the safety and therapeutic effectiveness of medicinal plants and drugs from them. The data on the use of preparations of plant origin in Europe and the United States are given. The problem of the toxicity of medicinal plants due to both exogenous factors (pesticides, toxic metals) and endogenous toxic compounds is considered in detail. Data on the EU standardization of medicinal plants, unified materials of experimental and clinical studies, evaluation of therapeutic efficacy of drugs are presented.
