The center of the world among many peoples, including the ancient Slavs, was a world tree or a world mountain. They were the central axis of the entire universe, including the Earth, and connected the world of people with the world of the gods and the underground world. The crown of the tree or the top of the mountain reached the world of gods in heaven, the roots of the tree or the foundation of the mountain go deep into the earth and connect the world of gods and the world of people with the underworld, or the world of the dead. Thus, the Tree of the World or the World Mountain were fundamental concepts among the Slavs and many ancient peoples. The mountain and the Tree were also a staircase, dear in any of the three worlds. The authors of the proposed book, based on rich folklore and historical material, reconstruct the great myth of the center of the world among the Slavs and their closest neighbors
