This book is the first in domestic historiography of a comprehensive study of the travel of Russians in Switzerland in the second half of the XVIII - the first half of the XIX century. These travels were laid a long tradition of staying Russians in Switzerland, which played a significant role in Russian cultural and public life. The book has examined 90 Russians from the second half of the XVIII to the middle of the XIX century. Travel journals, diaries and memoirs of travelers are processed, routes, travel preparation, show the main centers for the attraction of Russians in Switzerland. Special attention was paid to N.M. Karamzin"s journeys, which owns the merit of the introduction of the "Swiss myth" in Russian culture, and V.A. Zhukovsky as a conductor of "Alpine" values in Russian philosophy and social thought. The Appendix to the book details a detailed list of Russians who visited Switzerland at a specified period, with a detailed indication of their stays, and excerpts from the Swiss experience of Russian travelers.
