Russian metaphorical system in development. 11th-21st centuries

The book discusses the current problems of the theory of metaphors in a cognitive and diachronic aspect. On a large actual material (several tens of thousands of lexical units), the formation and development of the metaphorical system of the Russian language from the end x at the beginning of the XXI century is analyzed. The most regular conceptual models of metaphorization in subject and unforeseen lexical areas are revealed, the stability and dynamics of these models in the history of the Russian language and the factors affecting their development are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the role of the process of metaphorization in the formation and development of the language picture of the world of the carriers of the Russian language in different periods of its functioning. The results of the study can be used in the historical lexicology and historical lexicography of the Russian language, in particular, in the preparation of historical dictionaries.
