The Chebnik consists of two sections: the first is dedicated to the literature of the XI-XVII centuries (which is commonly called Old Russian), the second - literature of the XVIII century. In the first section, literary facts are grouped in accordance with historical periods, in the second - in literary birth and genres. The specifics of the textbook lies in the fact that the history of Russian literature is considered in close interconnection with the history of Russian journalism. The material is analyzed at several levels: a detailed analysis of specific literary monuments, the analysis of these monuments in historical and literary context and the comprehension of the general laws of the development of Russian culture, a brief analysis of the original concepts of Russian literature and culture proposed by outstanding scientists.
